If we went in the woods together, I might just end up coming out alone... but *I* would come out.  (jk)
 
I didn't pay close attention to your ideas on what was North and South.  However, to put it in your terms (or compass headings) that would mean I have 1-4 pointing SE, and 5 pointing NW.

Dave:  Remind me not to go in the woods with you without a compass. If the
front of the engine is North and the rear (firewall end) is south, then
the EM is on the east and the IM is on the west. On that basis, I think
your directions are out a bit.  However, the key point is your number 5 is
pointing back towards the front of the engine.  I think this might be the
key to keeping it alive.
