I am also getting some of the same type of hesitation 
described.  Mine isn't as severe as described, just a second or two 
of hesitation from cold startup.  It doesn't happen if the engine is 
warm.  The aluminum coil pack cover has not gone back on since doing 
the mod about 1,200 miles back.
