Steve: The metal end of the coil pack snaps onto the metal hex part of
the
F5DP0R plug like the jaws of a pit bull on a Postman. That is IF you
trim enough of the silcon rubber ring away to allow the coil pack to go
down
the well enough. Some people, including Dave Dawson (?), have elected
to completely remove the silicon rubber ring entirely, leaving the coil
pack
"jaws" to do the job. I am not sure if that is good or bad. Keeping
some
rubber ring would seem to me to stabilize the coil pack against
vibration. I
am not sure if there is a benefit on the heat trapping or release side
of
the equation with/without the rings.
In 9 months of operation, my 1.8 t coil packs have NOT budged. Either
UP
or rotationally. The benefit of the latter is the issue of the plugs
winding
their way out of the head is gone forever.
