Remember that when you are "testing" a car you are always playing with 
the throttle (checking for boost, noises, etc.).  For the little bits
that 
things are stable on the highway, I don't think the 19 mpg you saw is 
representative.  You should get much better on a real cruise, e.g. 
interstate with cruise on.

However, it is a big heavy car and you will never be able to get
Toyota
 Yaris-like numbers with it.

But then again a Yaris can't do 150 mph plus when/if you want/need it.
