Hope this isn't too wildly off-topic, but you guys inspired me to seek out a DVD of the film "C'était un Rendezvous," which I found at Bentley Publishing. I bought it along with a DVD called "A Gullwing at Twilight." "Rendezvous" is available on the internet and can be found by doing a Google video search. It's a lot more exciting on a bigger screen with the audio cranked up. I really enjoyed it and just wanted to say thanks to whoever first brought it up. I should point out that that driver was clearly nowhere near 52 South Second Street the whole time, and from the looks of it he wasn't even in Memphis in the first place. Go figure. Maybe that nice lady he met at the end will fix him some ribs when they get home.
"A Gullwing at Twilight" caught my eye as it combined two favorite subjects: the Bonneville Salt Flats and Mercedes-Benz 300 SLs. As a film, though, it's a disappointment: very slow and talky, with a much greater emphasis on other people talking about its main subject (veteran race car driver John C. Fitch) than on letting the man speak for himself. I got the impression that Fitch was okay with a camera crew following him around, but maybe not as enthusiastic about opening up to it personally. I didn't care for the music and the overall pace of the documentary was too slow and ponderous. Not at all my cup of tea.
My UrS4 is nearing completion. The FMIC is on except for some final touches (idle stablizer piping, silicon hoses here and there) and soon it will be getting fired up.
