I did that too in an overly zealous attempt to tighten up the ever 
slipping clamp. The end kind of creased and collapsed on itself. I found 
a piece of exhaust pipe of a suitable diameter, cut off a piece, 
straightened up the collapsed end and inserted the pipe into the end. 
Now I can tighten the hell out of the clamp w/o crushing the pipe end.
