[s-cars] Considering a A6 C5 Avant

Sean,
The V6 engine is pretty robust. The newer cars (2002) and later have nice
features but have some weak points, mostly electronic and control arms. I
had a 2002, now have a '99. In 2000 I think the interior was revised, I'd go
with 2000 or 2001 for the 2.8. Minor changes each year, you can put a nice
OEM Nav system into the later cars with the double DIN radio.
I bought my '99 with 135K miles on it. Did shocks and added aftermarket sway
bars.
The C5 is a nice driver's car, more comfortable than the C4 A6.
As with any Audi, history is important. Find one from an owner that took
care of it.
Also, don't be afraid of mileage...cars with some mileage have been
debugged. :)
Oh, and wait for a loaded car...you won't pay much or any extra for winter
packages, xenon lamps, leather suspension, full Bose system, HomeLink,
etc...
I'd expect to pay no more than $12K US for a nice 2001.
