Yup, this is the dreaded CPS or Hall Sender failure. What is likely to have
happened is that one of the three wires that enter in to the molding of the
Hall Sender device (the HKZ101) is intermittent. My car showed exact same
symptoms as yours. You have just missed the GB for the replacement hall
device. The stealer will charge you a couple of hundred bucks for the hall
sender mounted on bracket with cable. The GB was for the hall device itself
for about ten bucks.

Subject: [s-cars] Check Engine Light / No Start
Hi All,
1994 S4. A few days ago the check engine light came on
while driving. Had gone out by the time I got home.
Pulled code 2113. Problem went away.
Today, light came on while idling at a stop light.
Drove a few blocks to destination, light still on,
shut off engine.
Now car won't start. Cranks fine, OK indicated. Call
tow truck. 20 minutes later I try again... car
starts, tow truck driver pulls up. Told him I'll
drive the car.
Drove on some errands, light goes on & off, mostly
off. Seems like if I don't shut it off when the check
engine light is on, it will start again... just a
guess.
Got home, pulled only code... 2113 again.
Thanks in advance.
