[s-cars] Squeaks N Rattles,

Steve, lowered cars are certainly subject to more "NVH" than a stock riding
one. That being said, here's what I've done to make my lowered S as quiet as
possible.

B-pillar trim: remove the larger lower portion and line the inside with
single sided felt tape. Time consuming but worth it. Glove box area: I had
removed the latch mechanism a few times trying to figure out exactly what
was causing the rattle. IIRC, the rattle resides in the hook and latch piece
itself. I lubed everthing as well as I could and then wrapped the hook with
one layer of electical tape, eliminating the metal to metal contact and
making sure to have the door still close easily and properly. Noise gone.
Haven't had the sunroof rattle(yet).... Center armrest/console: If you don't
use your oem phone, and you keep the armrest in the up position, you can
wedge another piece of this felt tape between the lid(upper portion) and the
lower phone-holding portion. Many years ago, Frank "The Don" Amoroso, whose
sick black/black '93 is for sale on Ebay at the moment, used what he called
the "business card mod". By jaming a business card in between these two
sections, you can eliminate the noise coming from this area.

Another area that will squeak if it hasn't already is the triangular plastic
cover that hides the screws for the drivers side-view mirror. With varying
temperatures, this one can get very annoying. Yep, you guessed it, more felt
to the rescue. With a very thin bladed screwdriver, position a small piece
between the triangular cover and the upper door card, close to the hinged
area of the door itself. Hopefully this makes sense. I'm very happy with the
results so far. Just waiting for the next ones to pop up.

Chad
