Dave,
Neat... now we just need to get him out to the dragstrip to cook some syncros ;) Obviously, I'm running the same "honking" turbo, and it too hangs it way out there against the fender well. I actually wanted to run it unsupported, just to see how it would all hold up. Support bracket or not, I don't think any of it would have lived through the impact that was delivered to my downpipe. The downpipe (3.5" that I made out of heavy wall 304SS) actually received the vast majority of the damage. The crack on the header doesn't even leak exhaust, but is clearly visible.
Either way, it has served me well... and because it is mild steel, it will be very easy to repair.
Take care,
Dave

Dave: Sorry to hear of your "loss". On a related note, at the Burien WA
meet on the weekend Jason Petek (sp?) had his "bundle-o-snakes" equal
length tube header (the one that showed up as a "3D" AutoCad drawing
months ago on some forums (e.g. AW)). The header pushes the turbo
way out towards the fender so he built an "A-arm" -type bracket to help
support the GT30R (honking big) turbo. The bracket was connected to
the two taller mounting posts for the cam cover since he is running a
1.8t
coil pack conversion (following my instructions but looking nice and
neat
like Javad's).
Did I say he is making 450 hp (on a built engine, Pauter rods, etc)?
4"
turbo-back exhaust.
And he designed and built it all.
Hap? There's a new kid on the block. And he's coming fer ya.
Dave F.
