Bill,
Read the codes on the climate control head. If the low pressure
switch is
cycling, it should give you a code.
The price of R134a is increasing, but nowhere near the increase in labor
costs. Take Taka's suggestion to make sure all else is ok before
recharging.
But, unless there is a leak to fix or other problem, I wouldn't break
open the
system to replace the dryer.
