Just out of curiosity, has anyone paid by PayPal and
then gotten a refund due to such fraud? How does it work?

I did a quick westlaw search for cases involving PayPal
and most of them refer to the use of PayPal records for
litigation or criminal prosecution (a LOT of DirecTV suits
against pirates)..
