Eric,
IIRC, the engine speed sensor has nothing to do with the cruise.
Was the engine running when you pulled the codes? If the engine is off but
the key on when you pull codes, you will always get the G28 code.

Hmm. The link says the engine won't run unless G28 is operational.
Yet when I had the codes pulled before I bought the car, one of the
codes indicated a malfunctioning engine speed sensor. Something is
funny here.
Especially considering my odd cruise control behavior.
