[s-cars] The front brake upgrade grinds forward...

So, after having some discussion with folks on- and off-list, I have
come to some conclusions:

1.) Buying the 993TT calipers was a good first step. But it really
is only the first, and most expensive, step in a process that has many
steps...

2.) Getting RS2 brackets has been a bit of a challenge. Europrice is
not going to do them anymore unless you pre-pay for them now - and
they'll get just as many as they have pre-pays for, and no more.
Then, after they send all those out, they're not going to do pre-'96
stuff any more.

I'm not sure I like those kinds of terms. I've been a victim of the
pre-purchase scam before - they have my money for months, and there's
not a damn thing I can do about it once my credit card's 30-day limit
is up.

BTW, I e-mailed vagparts.com to see what they'd charge, and they never
did return my e-mail.

3.) Matt Weiss at StopTech has been a great guy in all this. He's
made a couple of mistakes, but more than made up for them. Those guys
are pretty good, and when this thing's all done, I'm going to
Audiworld and write a letter of praise. Believe me - they are not
making a dime of profit on the deal.

4.) I've had a little trouble determining a few things - length of
the front flexible brake lines, part numbers and suppliers of the
caliper-to-bracket and bracket-to-car bolts, and whether or not I need
to apply a wheel spacer to all 4 wheels, or can I just get away with
fronts? And longer wheel bolts - who does those???

5.) Getting ahold of 323x30 plated and slotted A8 rotors. Yes, I
have heard opinions on both the plating and the slotting. I
appreciate them, but I have my reasons, as crappy as they may be...
;) Any help on this?

I plan on doing a step by step photo write-up of this thing, and
include the rear brake stuff as well. *Everyone* that helps will get
a credit.

Thanks,

Eric
