[s-cars] Pistons and Rods for the AAN

In the American V-8 scene Eagle comes up quite often, as $7\800 for a set of
Carillo rods is a high price when the rest of the engine rebuild only costs
$2k to $3k. So lots of people try them. From what I have seen it seems to
be a quality control issue with Eagle. When you have so many stories of
grenades and other stories like Javad's this is usually the case.
Just say NO to aluminum rods. The heat cycles in normal street usage do
them in. There is one manufacturer who claims to have an aluminum rod that
is some sort of alloy that is suited for the street but I haven't heard much
about it.

There are plenty of videos of Javad's 80tq getting beaten like red
headed stepchild at Laguna Seca, on more than one occasion. And on one
of those occasions, the stock tranny met it's maker and started to
leak it's life blood. That car is not a dyno/drag strip queen.
Pauter vs. Carillo vs. Eagle vs. etc... I'm not saying one is better
than the other. If I ever have a need for new rods, I'll probably go
Pauter. Only because I've talked with a few guys over there at length
about engine components, oiling theory, etc., and they sounded like
they know what's up. Plus, plenty of I5 guys are ruining their rods.
They were also nice enough to make a set of replacement rods for
Shokan's RS6, and they charged them the going rate for 8 rods, even
though they took on the project to develop them from only a stock rod.

Rod's bend from bad software.
