Me I'm looking forward to flogfest in buddy's '06 Rover Sport S/C next
week... 400 supercharged horses of fun with giant Brembo's. Plan is to
do back to back comparo's with the ML55. Why not? Easily makes you say
X5 wha??? The 4.4 I 'enjoyed' at the BMW Tit Event was OK, tho I'm sure
the 4.6 and 4.8's are a bit more a hoot. Handled well.
Audi Content:
The build quality on the Q7 is assuredly better than the RR. My GOD is
the rear panel fit to door jam LAUGHABLE on the RR. Major faux pax
IMO... pathetic. And the panels (the steel ones not the Alum ones) are
beercan tinny. But I'm sure it rips arse - will find out.
Wunder if Hertz will rent Q7's by April? Naaaaa...

No offense meant, but how can you say that the Q7 will leave the X5 in
the dust if you've never driven one?!?
It's not just straight line speed that I was looking for- if that's the
case, the Jeep GC SRT-8 will dust everything short of a Cayenne
Turbo/Turbo S.

Taka. Can't say. Haven't driven the 4.4 litr version. It's no
torque monster like the Diesel Tourag, but it does get up and go well
for it's size.

Ingo-
Are you saying that it drives better than an X5? Which model?
I got to drive an X5 4.4 pretty hard and it definitely sets a
very high standard for SUVs. The Porsche Cayenne S and Turbo are even
better. The Infiniti FX 35/45 are about the equal of the X5 (in some
ways better, some ways worse- like cargo space) and slightly below in
terms of feel to the Cayenne IMO.
If the Q7 is better than the X5, I definitely have to drive one.

Lemme tell you, guys. I just got to ride in one last
night and all I can
say is...if I had a BMW X5 it'd be "Adios!" -It's that
good. No wallowy
ride, keyless pushbutton ignition start/stop and the
overlay backup display
is so cool you could tear around parking lots with
cones/cars all day in
reverse! And it turns on a dime with those 275 45 20
inch tires :-) Did I
mention how mean it sounds with that 350 hp V8?
