[s-cars] On the Road Again

Really? You think so, Dave? How does it get that extra efficiency? Given
a constant 7 psi and similar flows the only difference is the temperature.
Let's suppose that Hap's intercooler is able to keep the intake temps at 100
F. What temperature would we need on the 2.7 to allow 33% extra
efficiency...approx 285 F....that seems awfully darn high to me, even for
those little K03s. So if we put K04's and a large intercooler on the 2.7's
they would wind up at about 333 HP with everything else stock? It just
seems like we are off by about 30 HP to me.

Please don't misunderstand, I am not trying to throw rocks or incite another
riot of "keyboard drag racing" :)

Actually, a much better measure would be how would this car stack up in it's
present state to an MTM'd otherwise stock car. Does it have 10% more power?
I am sure we can find somebody with a car in this state to run against Hap
in the next couple of weeks while the beast is still relatively tame :) Put
in this light...maybe 300 isn't far from reality....this topic is like a
Pearlescent paint job to me, you look at it one way and it looks different
than from another angle.

33% more efficient... I wouldn't doubt that at all. Consider the fact
that those little K03's are gasping for breath at any higher rpm. It's not
just about the engine's ability to flow better, the turbo(s) are a huge
factor.
