[s-cars] Mystery Oil Leaks and Power Steering system questions

Brian,

To directly answer your earlier questions, HOH in Spokane is an
industrial hose
supplier that has this high pressure brake hose repair down pat.
They are not
an automotive pump repair facility. <www.griffiths.com> is one
rebuilder. Most
online sellers have rebuilts from ZF for exchange. Charlie Smith has
some info
on his <www.electro.com/~audi/> site.

The inexpensive way (assuming you read the manual first :-)) is the
rebuild in
the Audifans FAQ section. Hopefully, the flush worked and no other
components
in the system got a dose of brake fluid to destroy the seals, i.e.,
bomb, brake booster,
steering rack, ABS-- well, enough of that. The pump or other
components will let you
know if they have problems through leaks and brake warning light
mainly. I would go
under the assumption that the flush worked to save the system and
just keep a watchful
eye for problems.

The full gasket set (o-rings for inside the pump) is # 026 198 049
B . This is for the 200
which has the same gaskets. That X-plug and gasket # 026 145 541 is
also from the 200
but would be included in the full set. You will need 2 ea. N 904 054
01 o-rings for the high
pressure brake hose, and N 013 844 4 for the steering hose. Two N
013 816 5 were for
something, I forgot what. :-) That Napa Part # 95 is probably
hanging on the miscellaneous
tool display right now. It's more of a big screwdriver tip that you
insert in a socket for an impact
wrench. I haven't seen any of those manual impact drivers since the
Chinese started making
cheap air and electric drivers.

That leaking clamp on the line to the reservoir is low pressure
supply and can be replaced
with a screw down clamp. Stopping these hydraulic leaks now will pay
dividends later, and
the external fixes may be all you ever need.

That engine oil leak around the pressure sensor needs attention
first. You noted it has a
spray pattern around the sensor indicating the pressure of this
leak. It can blow the sensor
out and cause a major leak that can empty the engine oil supply in
seconds.

Tom '95 S6 I am not familiar with
the BG conditioner so can't comment.
There are 7.1 mineral and 11S synthetic fluids compatible with the
Audi G00200 fluid. Hopefully
one of those went in the reservoir. I would be more concerned with
how clean the fluid is than
which one was used. They are compatible but don't mix together very
well.
