I believe the wiring goes to the left (port) side front first, then 
the right side. So a break on the left will negate the right side 
being taped.  And although the break is usually by the connector 
at the hub, it can break further up the line near the firewall.  

My understanding is that the best place to short the wiring is 
at its source under the dash. I also understand that the best 
solution is to fix the wiring so the warning works. :)
