[s-cars] Faulty new cps?

Speed sensor will show if the engine if off. Looks like the CPS. May be the
CPS wires are shoting together somewhere.

"Mechanical mulfuntion". Attached to the back of the cam sprocket is a metal
cap (for want of a better word) that passes thru the CPS device to allow the
magnetic field to cross the gap in the hall sensor. May be this has become
separated from the sprocket and is not spinning with it - which may be why
there is the "short to plus" error as there is no pulse being detected. But
that may be caused by a broken wire too.

The break in the wiring may be in the loom between the CPS connector and the
firewall.

Ronald,

It looks to me that your engine speed sensor is the culprit. There are 2
sensors there that read the flywheel and one if bad will not allow you to
start the car, just don't remeber which one that is but I am sure others
here do.

HTH,

John
