Steve-
You're really lucky that you have such a dealership. I hope that he doesn't
go out of business or retire- then you're screwed.
It is the attitude of the VW and Audi dealerships in the north
Jersey/greater New York and Philadelphia areas that have basically
soured me completely on the idea of ever purchasing a new VW or Audi. I
voted with my wallet after complaining many, many
times to corporate, in emails, phone calls and letters.
The local Volvo dealer is a pleasure to deal with and a huge contrast
between them and the Audi dealerships. The overall
level of service is much better- they call me promptly when the car is done,
they give me a Volvo loaner car every time,
they fix the problem that needed fixing, etc.
The way the Germans are going in terms of reliability tanking (I've seen
this firsthand, secondhand and from the service
writers at Audi, BMW and Mercedes), once Lexus and Infiniti get some decent
manual transmission cars out there (what
were they thinking to offer the IS350 only with a slushbox?), I'm done-
Porsche will be the only German car I'll consider. I like
them enough to put up with service hassles and other BS, as I would with a
vintage Ferrari or Alfa if I were in the market for one.
