[s-cars] Alfa in U.S., and CF bling...

That 8C is HAWT. Me want.

Me no have enough money, for sure.

The rumor of Alfa returning to the U.S. has been floated every year
for the past ten. When it actually happens, I'll believe it. Having
previously owned two Spiders, I know how an Alfa feels to drive, and
how Alfisti are. They are almost as rabid as S-heads. :)

The money I used to buy my S6 I was going to use to buy a rosso 1993
Spider. It was primo, with only about 25k miles. But I couldn't look
130HP in the face again. I needed MO' POWAH!

Ahem. A good Callaway GTV6 has about 250HP, and if you can do a
decent 3.0L swap and keep the Callaway gear, the thing could turn out
about 290+. Considering how light a GTV6 is, that's a package that'll
give full RS2ed UrS's a really good run.

In the dry. :)

But getting parts for those beasts is about as easy as getting similar
ones for UrQuattros. Not only that, but even that underpowered Spider
was going to cost me an additional 50%/year in insurance! WTF?!?!

I love Alfas - the steering, the gearchanging, the sounds of the
motors - but keeping one on the road is an exercise for those who can
speak Italian, and get parts from Italian suppliers. One of the
sweetest rides I ever had was a turn around PIR in a 3.0L modified
GTV6, with 11.5:1 compression and modified internals for higher revs.
At 8500 rpm that thing was a beast, and it screamed a tune every
gearhead would die for. It was so smooth...

CF stuff: I'd love to see CF trim parts. But the effort to make them
sounds like more than I'd be willing to spend for them. Well, maybe a
boost gauge pod...

:)
