Craig, et. al.:

Talking apart the "multifunction" switch *sounds* like a good
idea...until you get the thing apart. I took my old one apart after I
replaced it to see why the high-beam headlights stopped working, and I'm
glad I didn't have to put it back together afterward! The moment I
opened it, parts were everywhere and it was never, ever going back
together without a room full of crazed German engineers to help.

My $.02,

Marc

p.s. If you do this replacement, pay no attention to the Bentley's
directions for pulling the cover off the steering column--they lie.
There are a couple of allen screws that have to come out of the bottom
of the steering column that they conveniently forget to mention. It took
me a while to find them!

>Good to know Tom. If I ever get in there, I just might remember to draw a diagram before taking it apart. My turn signal feels a bit sticky - I was thinking about taking it apart, cleaning it up and reassembling. This seems to work for many Audi switches, and I have done it quite a few times. But then, I would be fixing something that still works.......
