[s-cars] RS2 replica injectors - before and after emission

All,

Just wondering if it is worthwhile putting these replica RS2 injectors in to
a stock setup with MRC stage 2 software?

Thanks

Just to add my experience, I too have noticed a smoother idle with the 034
RS2 replica injectors. My setup is the same as Rob's except I'm driving a
95.5 S6 and in Chicago 93 octane is the best you can get. FWIW, I did not
have a problem with emissions testing while using the D/L injectors. In all
categories the emissions were well under the levels allowed. However, with
the replicas I have not had the O2 light come on as it did with the D/Ls. I
have put approximately 500 miles on the injectors so far. The D/Ls were in
for 25,000 miles - now off to ebay.

I suppose the question to ask Bob is there a software upgrade available from
Mihnea that will give us even more POWER?

Due to some recent troubles passing BC emissions testing I decided to swap
my 37#D/L injectors with RS2 replicas. The results are an interesting
before/after look into injector performance.
Car is a 93 with RS2 turbo, 37# D/L injectors, stock MAF, MRC RS2 software,
no FMIC, 94 octane gas.
Tests were at sea level, roughly 20?C, nitrous-less atmosphere. Before and
after tests used identical rolling road speed setpoints

Before:
HC=1.2461 g/km (PASS IS 0.5)
CO=24.9081 g/km (PASS IS 9.32)
NOx=1.1922 g/km (PASS IS 1.24)

After (swapped in RS2 replicas):
HC=0.3568 g/km (71% reduction)
CO=6.4771 g/km (74% reduction)
NOx=0.3707 g/km (69% reduction)

I now feel like a proud parent.

So far, no knocking issues, but I should mention that I haven't put that
many kms on her yet. ON the few pulls I have tried, no issues whatsoever.

Unfortunately, I don't have a A/F gauge or pyrometer to assess before/after
differences in these areas.

S-O-P meter tells me nicer idle and smoother throttle response. Not sure
about mileage or bumper soot accumulation yet.

One note: during the install of the new injectors, I did not use the old OEM

injector clips to connect the injectors to the rail. According to 034, these

are not required and they have done many installs w/o re-using the clips.

I took a close-up picture comparing stock, 37# D/L and RS2 replica injector
nozzles and will post later.

Hope this helps people in the same situation.

Rob
