As I recall there is also a cap at the bottom that snaps over the strut
cap. The one at the bottom is 431 412 389 B. This is the main issue I
was having with the aftermarket ones. They would not hold on at the
bottom end at all. The factory ones fit like a glove.
Peter, this boot is not the typical one you may be used to. It is more
of a bellows that envelopes the entire piston area. Piston is not
visible at all when properly installed and the bump stop does not attach
to the boot in any way. And if you're putting in Bilsteins, the bump
stop isn't reused anyway. If you don't have the Family Album handy I
can send you a screen capture.
