Audi and Volkswagen model years run from July to June. A 92 model would
have been built from August 1991 to June 1992 (check the drivers side B
pillar door post sticker for the build date). It  would have the trip
computer, quattro script in the rear defroster, steel sunroof, elmwood
trim etc.  The VIN should start with NN.

A Dec. 92 delivery on a "92" is well into the 93 model year and suggests
that the car may have been a demo.  As you suggested, this may (or may
not) suggest that they lost the manuals and grabbed some "93" manuals to
replace the lost ones.

If it is any consolation, my 11/92 build date carbon fibre 93 (delivered
in Feb. 93) came with a "93" manual that includes a section on the trip
computer which was deleted from the North American delivery cars (but
was an option other places until 1997). 


Rumour once had it that you could buy manuals from Audi USA.
