Chris: In our Vancouver club, we have everything from bone stock DOT
headlights to Euro lenses with 9005/9006 to Euro lenses with 9011/9012
(HIR) (me) to DOT lenses with McCullough (or clone) HID to Euro lenses
with McCullough HID to full OE Euro-spec factory HIDs (Sean D.) (NOTE:
We have zero Euro headlights (that I can think of) even though the last
group buy was done through PG Performance, who is local to us).
Sean D. may disagree but I think, for the money, the McCullough HIDs
with the Euro lenses are VERY close to the factory HID set up, at least
to my eyes. Certainly, for the cost difference versus the lighting
difference, personally, I can not see a reason to go beyond the
McCulloughs. However, there is definitely an improvement over the HIRs
which, of course, were an improvement over the 9005/9006 (or 9005/9005
trick)
The trick is to get the right HID temperature which, IIRC, is 4600 K.
(But I could be wrong).
