[s-cars] Anyone got an opinion on this code reader

Sam;

I don't know whether you got different systems on the S4s shipped to NZ, but
the ones we got here in North America don't have the connector to match up
with that code reader. There is a four pin connector in the underhood fuse
box for a code reader. If your car is the same, you'll need an adapter to
connect to the reader. We don't need a reader on our NA cars - the ECU codes
can be read out by shorting two of the pins and the check engine light
flashes out the codes. The code interpretation is listed in the Bentley. The
climate control codes can be read in a similar fashion from the CC head by
simultaneously pressing two buttons, spitting over your left shoulder, and
whistling "Deutschland Uber Alles" (OK, I'm exaggerating - you don't have to
spit). These early cars had limited functionality for codes in any case -
you can't access the instrument panel for instance, and I don't think you
can access the ABS system.

This code scanner is on New Zealand's Trademe (Ebay NZ). Now I live a
long way from the nearest dealer that can scan my codes, so I'm
tempted. This should work on my AAN 93 S4??
