[s-cars] A/C compressor

I don't find the listing at Adirondack for any compressors, Chris.
The number is a good one for R134A systems, but a useless number since
you aren't likely to buy one from the dealer, and the online sellers
simply use
the number as a reference for their product. You won't find a Audi
part number
on the part to verify it is correct.
There is a July 2002 thread in the archives on compressor sources
that is still
valid. <www.compressor-intl.com> and <www.hancockindustries.com> are
good suppliers. The Arctic compressors sold online are correct if
you can find
a reasonable price. I bought mine on ebay from "icoolu" :-) two
years ago and
it works good (S6 with R134A).
The used compressor advice is probably good compared to rebuilt, but
you have
to factor in R12 and labor costs as the major part of expense.
If your compressor is locked up, you don't have a core exchange.
And, you need
to check orifice tube for metal and change the dryer for sure.
