I am coming to the dark side of FMIC ownership, I can no see how much
more
effective at low boost at removing heat when my WI is not injecting. So
I
foresee a FMIC in my future, unless I see an S8 in the driveway first.

First, great pun Hap, I missed the NOS in Nostradamus initially as I'm
thick. Hilarious. And outrageous! You sir are a madman! Report back
after initial WOT runs, I cannot imagine. Yikes!
Heh, funny you mention the FMIC / S8 concept Mark. That was exactly
where I was at with UrS mods - the Shakespearean question: to FMIC or
not to FMIC - that is the question. Driving these the way some of us do
they really are a necessity. But that damn slippery slope kept on
getting relubed, and slipslipslipppppier.
So your above prognostication, in the end, just made more sense for me.
I picked up a silver / black '01 //S8 last night - sport seats, solar
roof, and tinted windows. The next owner of my UrS can add FMIC, HRSB,
and camber plates, and be done with all they really need to make a
spectacular car. I'll be sad to see it go but hopefully it finds a good
home. I'll shamelessly be posting the classified ad in the coming day
or so.
Along the lines of yesterday's C5 vs. D2 //S debate... man... the //S8
is *quite* the piece of machinery. I mean, I already knew this but
sitting in the back seat last night or commuting in today the point is
driven home with both alcantara finesse and the sledgehammer growl of V8
fury. The interior is to die for and the driving experience is very
alluring and rewarding. Yeah it's a slushbox but IMO the paddles are
effective enough with practice / change of driving style. I'll row
gears in my TR3 or 4kq when I've got a jones to feed. The autobox slams
the 7k redline with earnest and pride and the WOT sound is superb - best
is the decelerative rundown from redline - YEAH. Hello 11 MPG... d'oh.
While the 317 lb. ft torque peaks @ a mere 3,400, it does <<<pale>>> in
comparison to the punch of my MRC'd K24. Once wound up tho the 360hp is
readily apparent and my guess would begin pulling stride on my UrS.
There's something about the tactile feel of shutting the aluminum hood /
doors and acknowledging things like roller valvetrain followers that
give the car a sorta exotic aura that I hadn't expected. It's a pretty
cool sensation really. Then there's gimmics like power seatbelt height
adjustment, power *rear* lumbar tension and height, etc. - more things
to break but kinda neat touches nonetheless. Who cares if there's
little to mod on them, tho, I'm certain I'll find a few things as time
passes. Maybe some NOS Hap? Ronin here we come.
So, good news is I didn't buy a BMW - but my continuing on with an //S
doesn't guarantee an //SFest 2007 8-). Certainly doesn't hurt the cause
tho of course heh heh.
Bruce Mendel, Ed Walsh, me... heh... dare I wonder who's next at these
prices? Tremendous amount of car for the dough. Rossato will see it @
lunch today - wagers on how long until he can deny his destiny? Time to
start surfing AW D2 forum for tech advice though, d'oh. That's reason
enough right there Bob needs one ASAP... how else will I wrench mine???
