[s-cars] Intermittent Oil Temp Gauge

Thanks Daye. "Oh yeah" number two. My first inclination was the sender as
well. I was under there after cracking my oil pan and replaced it before
pulling the IC. Replacing the sender did nothing. Cleaning the posts did
the trick but not forever. All I have to do to get the gauge to perk up is
tap the plastic on the IC. I'm really just looking for a better
physical/electrical connection.

You might want to make sure that your connection is good at the sender. It
is fairly vulnerable... often coming loose or fraying the wires. Actually,
that's the only place I've ever had to make repairs.

My oil temp gauge is a tad flakey. I know the cause but don't know the long
term fix. I had pulled the cluster and removed the gauge a while back.
Cleaning the posts on the gauge helped for a bit but the flakiness returned
in about 1 month. I'm thinking a small drop of solder on each post but feel
that this may also be a temporary, albeit more temporary fix than just
cleaning the posts. Oh yeah, I did hit them with DeOxit before reassembly
last time. I'd continue to live with it but my outside temp display bulb is
out so I'll be removing the IC to address that and would like to kill two
birds.
Regards,
Mark
