Iain-
You cannot use offset as the determining factor of caliper clearance- you
have to look at
the space available behind the spokes between the plane of the hub mounting
surface.

That said, the Avus wheel should clear the brakes just fine- I cannot
comment on the 7x16 wheel which I have not seen.
