You can remove the oil pan without fully removing the subframe. Remove
front bolts and loosen the rear bolts and lever ont the front as you inch
out the pan. Of course it would be easier to remove the pan with the
subframe entirely out of the way but... The subframe bolts are a one time
use. The oil pan requires 2 gaskets and you will need to remove the oil
pick-up for which you will need an o-ring.

what's involved in looking at the rotating assembly? looking at the
car, it seems like the subframe assembly would have to be removed in
order to drop the oil pan for a look.
