[s-cars] emissions question...

Tom,
I have been able to get many cars (2 x 89 200TQ, 95 S6, 79 Porsche 930)
through Denver emissions on 91 Octane. Main things which seem to bite on
Audis are O2 sensors, vacuum leaks (CIS) and getting the mixture set with a
duty cycle meter (CIS). Given the newer cars in your fleet you probably
should invest in a cable and VAG-COM S/W for them to make your
troubleshooting a bit easier.
Now fighting with emissions on the LT1 equipped Audi... That is a whole
other saga of woe. :-(

Subject: [s-cars] emissions question...
hey s-doods.....
I have a problem. Ok, more than one but hang with me a minute... 8-) I
currently have 6 cars on the road (first problem), all of them are Audis
(second problem), five of the six are currently sporting REJECT stickers !
(BIG PROBLEM). Ironically, only my 94 S4 has a valid sticker... he-he-he...
The latest car to fail emissions was my 84 Urq. It runs flawlessly however
whatever the check was (don't have the readout with me but limit was 1.25
and I scored a 1.75, this is in Mass by the way) was close but no cigar...
yes, I made sure I was properly warmed up, fresh oil etc but my question is
-> does the octane play any role for emmisions ? I always run the highest
octane I can find and it just dawned on me a lower octane might actually
help with emissions ??? yes/no ?
any help out there ?
tom. (thinkin it might be time to get some newer cars...)
