Brett-
I'm sorry you have such a huge chip on your shoulder regarding warranties.

I have it in writing from Nikon USA that they will repair any camera bodies
and/or lenses
that I've purchased from authorized Nikon dealers in Japan. They will not
honor the warranty,
but they will fix it. If I ship the item back to Nikon in Japan, they will
honor the warranty and
will fix it.

I don't doubt that you've had very bad experiences with Apple, but they
continue to top
the PC Magazine reliability survey and Sony is close behind. I don't see how
so many people
love their Macs if they're so bad.

Sony makes some very nice metal or carbon-fiber cased laptops- what have you
been looking at?

The Core2Duo based, CF-cased VAIO is a very nice laptop, although I do not
have the budget
to purchase one right now- they're something like $2400+.

I won't discuss the merits of Mac vs. Windows or Canon vs. Nikon here
because it's off-topic and
it's along the lines of a religious debate, or a debate on gun control,
abortion or any other similarly
divisive topic.

As for Audi warranties- they're similarly awful, I'm surprised you never
mentioned them. Stuff doesn't
get fixed under warranty, the car goes back a million times, then goes out
of warranty (because Audi
takes so freaking long to fix something right), then they basically say
"screw you, the car is out of
warranty." Of course, it's always something different, so you can't invoke
lemon law usually.

If you're worried about warranty coverage, DON'T BUY THE ITEM ON EBAY!

Taka

P.S. BTW I have both Nikon and Canon cameras and will probably add a Macbook
to my fleet of computers
