Dave;

You may have to search around a bit to find a dealer who can cut the
sidewinder keys. Not all dealers will spring for the laser-guided machine
that can cut these keys. Of the dealers that do have the machine, some will
only cut genuine Audi blanks and shoo you away when you show up with an
e-bay blank. I finally found one that cut the blank on my e-bay switchblade
remote, but it took a bit of doing, and at that I had to touch it up by hand
to get it to work.

For those with the "side winder" type ignition/door keys, you probably
know that the "switch blade" remotes can work. (There is also a way to
get the normal keys to work with the switch blade RF remote). However,
if you don't have a switch blade remote, there are some available on
ebay. Some of these have uncut keys. Some of them have cut keys. The
good news is you can also buy just the keys (just the blank blade) from
Heather Dentz on eBay as well. For $8.99 each. Now that's a good price.
Naturally, the dealer will want his pound of flesh to cut the key for
you.
