I'd say it is possible that you have a unique failure. However, I tend to start with the common failures, and then move towards the more obscure.
In all my Audi life I have never experienced a blown ECU fuse, and therefore, *I* wouldn't start there. That doesn't mean it isn't your cause, but it does mean that it is less likely. Also, checking for residual fuel pressure in the line takes about 10 seconds... and can very quickly identify your cause. Crack that banjo bolt on the front of the fuel rail. Fuel will either spray out under pressure, or it will not.
Do that first... let us know what you find... and we can advise you from there.
HTH,
Dave

Thanks to all for the responses… and… I wonder.
For some time, I’ve had a mysterious clunking from the rear and I wonder if
it’s conceivable for the fuel pump to have broken loose… as to have been
just floating around in there??? and thus my current predicament.
Should I start by cracking a fuel line to check for pressure? I would
think if it was fuel pump that the car would sputter a bit before cutting
completely out?
Dunno.
Stay tuned
