I too had to replace an aftermarket with a dealer supplied one after about 6
months. Take the pain, go with the dealer.

Jerry ignited:

Where is the best place to get the OE ignition switch for a 93 S4, and
how much are they?<<<<<<<

DON'T buy Blaufergnugen. These are generic switches, probably Chinese.
I bought one of these and replaced my switch as a preventive
maintenance measure. The stock, 11 year old, 80K mi switch inspected
perfectly when I disassembled it out of curiosity.

Two months later, I am having switch issues, and I went to the stealer
on a Saturday (I had to fix it that weekend) and bought one for $40.
Or something like that. No issues since. The guts of the Blau switch
were pretty much toast. It is a fairly complex mechanism.

Get a good one and do the job once.

HTH.
