[s-cars] Too much beeping

I put up with the exact same behavior for several years. It wasn't a bulb at all, and in fact, even AFTER bypassing the entire bulb section of the autocheck, it still beeped.
In the end, mine ended up being a poor connection between the instrument cluster socket, and the white connector. This connector is white and about 1 inch wide. This is where the control signals come into the IC from the autocheck relay.
I tried everything... cleaning pins, and trying to somehow tighten the connection. As a last resort, I actually had to wedge the connector in place with a very small sheet metal screw. Not my kind of repair, but after several years of listening to that thing, it rapidly turned into an acceptable option.
Not a single noise since.
Good luck,
Dave

Subject: [s-cars] Too much beeping
Gents,
I have had the instrument cluster "bulb out" warning and associated beeping
on my '93 S4 for about two years now. I have tried to touch-up the solders
in several locations on the IC as suggested by several folks with absolutely
no success. In fact, the last time I tried the touch-up, it caused another
intermittent warning of "brems licght" or some such. This beep is fairly
weather/temperature dependant with sometimes beeping only on startup
and other times it will beep several times per minute. I have methodically
changed every exterior light bulb on the car, twice. I am convinced it is
in the IC, but cannot find the intermittently broken circuit.
Well, I'm completely over this annoyance. Can anyone tell me how to
permanently disable the bulb out screen and it's associated
beep? Obviously, I don't want to screw anything else up, but can easily
live without the radio display and this seriously aggravating beeping crap.
Besides, I might want to install a set of Valentine warning arrows in there
instead.
Any help appreciated.
