Stopped by the Oakland Audi dealer yesterday to pick up a part and ran into former lister, Perry Eyges -- Porsche/Audi salesman. A few months back, we took an extended test drive in a 30k mile, cherry RS6. Perry is convinced that I am an RS6 kinda guy. Must be the graying hair and weight I gained, after I quit smoking. :-)
Yesterday afternoon was a beautiful day, so he suggests another ride. Another RS6! And, a beautiful RS6, no less. Black Pearl on black interior, with that black/gray carbon fiber trim -- "Mr. Vadar, your car is ready." The sport exhaust option sounds too cool. And, this one has been chipped for another 70hp for a total count of 520 ponies.
What a torque monster. With partial throttle, the thing short shifts, yet effortlessly gains speed at an amazing rate. Yeah, yeah, enough with the part throttle stuff. At WOT the thing just rocketed forward and pushed you back in the seat, but still seemed so unflustered by it all. Brakes -- excellent. Handling -- same, until you got into the very tight stuff, where neu MP showed her weight a bit.
Also spent a little time checking out (but not driving) the neu TT. They had a brilliant black 3.2l model with the optional 10-spoke wheel (a very attractive looking wheel IMO) and the Luxor Beige interior. Luxor Beige, which is apparently imported from Egypt or something, looked too cool. Really brightened up the cockpit and nice contrast to the black dash, etc. Hate to try keeping it clean, but after years of Ecru ownership, I might be up to the task.
