you mean the B6 S4? i've been told that the B7 S4 has a cartridge oil
filter up top, like the BMWs. i changed the oil on my wife's 330i last
week, and i can't believe how easy it is. BMW gives you a little trapdoor
in the belly pan so you can reach the oil drain plug, and the oil filter
is up top in a plastic cylinder with a big nut on top. you'll never
bash your knuckles or scrape your arms removing the oil filter again, and
your emergency oil filter removal tool (aka big-ass screwdriver) can stay
in the toolbox.

when i first heard about the S60R and saw the specs, my first reaction was
that volvo had taken a page from the UrS4/S6 book. turbo 5 cylinder, 4
doors, AWD, stick, etc.
the thing i didn't like about the S60R, though, was its heavily front-biased
handling, much of which comes from the haldex. did you say somewhere in
this thread that the haldex could be reprogrammed?
the problem is, you'll never get more than 50% power delivery to the rear,
as the rear is driven off the front. but a 50/50 split might be good enough
to be entertaining.
the S60R did have a wonderful interior, quite possibly the best i've seen
in a mass-market car lately.
