[s-cars] Worthy projects (was Alum..was UrS $)

Oh damn, Dave...you mean it's because we're older?! ...oh...and
experienced?!

I think I started with the original quattro list when I was a prof at
Mines. I left there almost 12 years ago and have missed CO and you guys
ever since, only managing to hook up with you that one time at Second
Creek. I freaking turned 52 in February and I'm really starting to
wonder about this age thing as I find limited satisfaction with this new
GTI I picked up for Houston commuting fun.

I don't get out here and drive cars like I used to when I lived in
Golden. Well, drive my cars OR test drive new ones. Always had a
friend or two ready for the diversion there. I've driven just enough to
be less than thrilled with auto Audi's and to wish I'd gotten around to
a short shift kit on the S6 avant. I mean, it's unbelievably sloppy
after a GTI, and they have a short shift kit for the GTI! My old friend
in CA with an S60R loves it, but it seemed to have an uncomfortable
amount of front end bounce to me, particularly in turns. Nothing some
discussions with IPD couldn't resolve. Haven't talked to them since I
modified an '81 turbo coupe I picked up for cheap from one of my grad
students who was headed back to Malaysia.

Early morning rambling...but I am an old fart. Elijah's had more
experience than most his age, and we all know it comes in spurts, often
undesirable and unforgiving, but that's life.

Hey, Dave...do you ever talk to Bill Darling? Sometime I need to get
back my urq rally spoiler from him. I think I sent it to him something
like five or six years ago when we were talking copies.

It is possible that I was building my first engine when you were getting potty trained. Scott's even older ;)

And then you can look at some younger enthusiast, smile to yourself, and then hopefully point him in the right direction. Not that Scott's direction is "right" every time... but it is certainly "enlightened" more than most.

No biggie in my opinion, sure not something to hold on the reliable side of this stupid discussion which I am still trying to figure out why we're in. Oh yes, Scott is in this conversation and there is always something better or more experienced in these topics, ugg, I love my urs, that is all for me, back to lurking :-(
