We typically run a 2 or 3 lb stagger but one of the tricks I have learned from my A4 (FWD and very tricked suspension) is to run he widest DOT-R tire I can fit (245x17) but run them very soft at 27/25. The stiff sidewalls of the Hoosiers allow the tire to get warmer quicker in the early Spring. no Teflon skating after the first lap. However for 120 deg plus track conditions I go to a more normal 32/30. But this car wants to rotate and with some toe out turns in on a rail. For the TT we are not allowed to go beyond the alignment specs of the stock suspension and I am going to try your 38/30 pressures in a couple of weeks.

I do that with my Saabaru in autocross, my stagger is about 4 psi, beyond which the tail gets a bit too loose on turn exit in autocross. This is on DOT-R rubber, stock alignment. FWIW, with the Saabaru, I run 38 front (lower if the course is slick), 42 rear. Also, FWIW, it did work the other way when I ran my A2 GTi in ES (quite a bit more successfully), front was still 38, rear was 30.
