Eric,
Thanks for the info. I'll keep an eye on the plugs and as has been my habit since the days of owning a Triumph, I will keep keep a set of OEM Bosch F5DPOR in the car.
I hope I don't experience the same issue you have with your coils, although I didn't go the 1.8t route but rather the DIS system (plug wires, not coil on) Javad offers.

his material.

I too have the 034 1.8T coil kit and was running the tri-electrode
plugs. My car would just plain die after running 5 minutes. It got
blamed on a lot of stuff, but I'm forulating a hypothesis...
The tri-electrode plugs and the 034 kit don't play well together, in
combination with the Motronic ECU.
The stock plugs, or even NKG Iridiums, work with the 034 kit. But
something about Motronic/non-stock coils and non stock plugs just make
life tough.
This takes some time to happen, BTW. Mine ran fine for a couple thousand miles.
