Correct me if I'm wrong, but K04s in the B5 pretty much fix the turbo issue,
don't they? Yes, expensive to do the first time, but should be the last time
as well. I know that AWE is still kicking around the 420hp Avant for several
years now. I do not know if they've replaced turbos since they did the RS4
turbo swap, though. $12k to have them do it for you, obviously much much
less if you DIY.
So reliable, I'd say yes, but cheap and easy, no. I don't know how the A6
2.7T works in terms of ease of service compared to the B5, but the A6 is
more of a direct descendant of the C4 S cars and much nicer than the B5 IMO.
