Funny you should say that. I just had my ignition switch replaced as well - and it's showing the exact same behaviour. Not only does it no longer switch off the radio, the overhead cabin light doesn't turn on with the removal of the key as it did before - something my wife definitely appreciates. The cabin light still goes on when the door opens.
I'd be curious as to what you find out. But considering that the old switch kept the starter engaged - this little inconvience I can live with.
