yes, the 1.8Ts are noticeably more agile than the biturbo S4. less
hardware sitting under the hood.  i had a B7 A4 2.0T avant for a couple
of weeks, and it was a great car.  the B7 handles better than the B5,
probably in part due to the larger tires (235/45/17 vs the 205s that came
on sport package 1.8T and vs the 225s that came on the S4).  the 2.0T
engine had plenty of punch, though it lacked the smoothness and power of 
the 2.7T.  i was happy to get my K04'd S4 back.

the B8 will likely handle better, as audi is reportedly moving the engine
back, and all B8 quattros (not just the S4) will get the 40/60 split torsen.
i wonder if there's any chance that audi will offer a biturbo V6 again.
BMW has the 335i.
