Once I figured this  out, I can take the bumper off my B5 in just a couple 
minutes.  Or should  I say I could, as I finally managed to sell it  yesterday!

screw  in each wheel well, then pop out the 2 side front grills to access 2  
vertical (inserted upwards into the "bumper buffers") allen bolts, one each  side
