Speaking of cutting it close... I was taking my daughter back to 
summer camp last summer after visiting day, and noticed that my 
'99 A6 wasn't starting quite right. Figured I was in the market 
for a new battery. Stopped by Sears on the way to camp. Parked the 
car with wife/child inside while I went to the desk. 20 minutes 
later pulled the car into the garage, shut off again. 10 minutes 
later was asked to pull the car into a work bay.

It wouldn't start.

That battery had given every single start it had stored. I had 
asked for just one more and it just didn't have it.

Got my money's worth out of that one!
