I don't know for sure if you have to (cross member almost certainly) but I
suggest you remove both. It takes 20 min. to remove everything in front and
even if it may add a few minutes to the R&R, it will avoid a lot of fighting
and frustration by making the access much easier. IIRC, once the front end
is off, radiator R&R is quite obvious.
I've attached a T-Belt step by step for the front-end removal. Use it up to
step 9 than the last steps should be easy.

I have 202K on the clock and the top of the radiator has a small leak so
I bought a new one for $200 from SJM Autotechnik (Thanks Scott
Mockry!). Any BTDT? Do you have to remove the front bumper? Remove the
cross member?
